Kent Police Did Not Ticket a Dumpster

The police department squashes rumors about a dumpster being ticketed on its Facebook page.

Have you heard anything about the Kent Police Department issuing a ticket to a dumpster?

Sounds bizarre, but rumors have been circulating. To put them to rest, the Kent Police Department sent a message out to the community on Facebook:

"We here at KPD would just like to let everyone know that at no time did a Kent police officer or the parking compliance officer issue a ticket to a dumpster or any dumpsters for that matter. There seems to be a rumor going around that this happened. We can assure you that it did not. Please repost and spread the word that this silly rumor is indeed just that, silly and untrue!

There are a lot of new and exciting things going on in the city of Kent these days, but ticketing dumpsters is not one of those new and exciting things!

Have a great day everyone and stay safe,
KPD Dispatch"

While some Facebook fans thanked the department for the post, some scoffed that it was even worth talking about:

  • " I like the fact that you put an end to the rumor. Getting the truth out is a good thing. Thanks."
  • "This is really the most important thing at your agency? That's truly sad."

Others had a little fun with the rumor:
  • "That's a bunch of 'garbage!'"
  • "Chief ... don't be down in the 'dumps.'"
