Demolition of Kramer Fields Bridge Under Way

Construction on new bridge to ball fields expected to start this year

Demolition started today on the Redmond Bridge linking Kramer Ball Fields to Fred Fuller Park.

The wooden structure is set to be replaced this fall so the Kent Parks and Recreation Department can again use the baseball fields in the spring of 2014.

The city is planning to build a $1.2 million replacement span over the Cuyahoga River to the fields, which are isolated by the river and nearby CSX Transportation Co. railroad tracks. The bridge provides the only access to the park.
