Lorie Bednar  joins Patch.com after a career in journalism at area newspapers, where she worked as reporter, editor, proofreader and page designer.  She received her bachelor of arts degree in English from Kent State University and currently writes for and assists with special projects at the Kent Historical Society. 

"I've always been interested in the stories that make up our community and getting to know the residents who share them," she said.

A lifelong Portage County resident, Bednar has lived in Kent for 21 years. She and her husband have three children, aged 3 through 10.
