About Jon
I am a native of Kent (though actually lived in Franklin Township most of my life), and a graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School. After a few years doing a church mission and most of my undergraduate work out west, I came back to Kent to finish my bachelor's degree in Music (with a Political Science minor) and my Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree, both at Kent State University. I am currently a substitute teacher in the Tallmadge and Stow-Munroe Falls City School Districts and at Maplewood Career Center in Ravenna and am seeking employment as a full-time music teacher (licensed P-12). I am also an active member of the Kent Historical Society.
I have enjoyed sports from a very young age and can often be found at the many local sporting events we have here in Kent or watching or attending one of our professional teams in Cleveland. Sometimes you will find me singing the National Anthem at a sporting event, something I have been doing at various levels since 1997. I was able to sing the anthem at two Cleveland Indians games in 2011, five in 2012, and have also sung for the Akron Aeros in 2010 and 2011. I have sung for KSU men's and women's basketball games multiple times and at least once per season since 2008.
