Kent City Employee Cited for Drug Abuse in Stow

The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department.

A 28-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man changed his mind about having his car searched when the Stow K-9 officer showed up. A Stow Police officer pulled over a Silver Elantra at the 2000 block of Graham Road Nov. 16 around 1:30 a.m. for weaving.  Police said the driver, a city of Kent water employee, initially refused a consent search of his car but said he changed his mind when the K-9 officer arrived.  The man told officers there was a marijuana pipe and marijuana (6 grams) in his back pack. Police said they also located a marijuana grinder. The driver was cited for drug abuse, weaving and having drug paraphernalia — all minor-misdemeanor offenses. Officers said the man was also suspected of using drugs at the time. Keep Off the Lawn (Especially when Drunk and Sleeping)

The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department.

A Tudor Lane resident called police because he had an unwanted guest sleeping on his front lawn Aug. 4 around 4 a.m. The resident told police the man was sleeping on his driveway at the 4600 block of Tudor Lane. He woke the man up to move, but according to the report, the man moved just moved two houses down and fell asleep again. The Tudor Lane man told officers he woke the 18-year-old up again and asked him to leave. A few hours later, police were called again because a motorist saw a man sleeping in someone’s yard at the 4500 block of Chatwood Drive. Police found the 18-year-old from Kent sleeping and said he was intoxicated. Prohibitions in this situation is a first-degree misdemeanor. The Kent man was arrested and issued a summons to …

Teen Robbed While Trying to Buy Drugs at High School

The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department.

A 15-year-old Kent Roosevelt High School student called Stow Police because he went to the Stow-Munroe Falls High School to buy drugs, but was robbed instead. According to the report, the youth went to the high school July 31 around 4 p.m. to buy $60 worth of marijuana from someone he knew at the tennis courts. But, the deal did not go as planned. Instead, police said when the suspect pulled up, he took the teen’s $80 and drove off with it. The youth gave police a description of the car.  Theft is a first-degree misdemeanor and trafficking marijuana is a fourth-degree felony in this situation.

K9 Tracks Down Teens in Stow After Kent Shooting; Youths Cleared of Any Involvement

The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department. Turns out it was a "wrong place, wrong time" situation for three 17-year-olds.

The three teens Nero, the Stow Police K9, tracked down in Stow early Wednesday morning for possibly being involved in a shooting in Kent were cleared of any involvment by officers. Kent Police received a call at 12:21 a.m. Wednesday for a report of shots fired. They discovered a male, 17, at 782 Silver Meadows Blvd. with multiple gunshot wounds. According to police radio traffic, the victim had been shot in the head. The suspect fled westbound on foot armed with a handgun, said Kent Police. Officers were looking for a white male in his mid 20s, approximately 5-feet 8-inches tall, heavy build, who was wearing a white sleeveless T-shirt. Does the 17 yr. old have any info on who shot him? He was just walking down the street and someone walked up and shot him? once in the head? If this is a random act, I hope we have the entire police dept. on this. We all need to be packing just in case. Seems like our victim needs to start talking and telling the whole story.   more ›

Naked Kent Woman Leads Police on Chase to Bedford

The following information was supplied by Kent and Stow police departments.

A Kent woman took police officers from Stow, Kent and Macedonia on a chase after police say she threatened to harm her child and another relative. When officers stopped the 2002 silver Grand Prix to arrest the woman in Bedford on May 10, she was naked, Stow police Lt. Anne Stirm said. Kent police Capt. Paul Canfield said the woman had left the Silver Meadows Complex in Kent and headed toward Stow after threatening to do harm to members of her family.  "We put out an alert saying, 'Be on the lookout' to other agencies in the area," Canfield said.
