How Long an ER Wait at Robinson? Feds Spill the Beans

Medicare database shows how hospitals across region — and nation — compare for care.

If you go to the emergency room at Robinson Memorial Hospital with a broken bone, how long will it take before you get pain medicine?  The federal government says 56 minutes on average. That’s better than the wait for a pain pill at Summa Western Reserve Hospital in Cuyahoga Falls (72 minutes) but worse than University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center in Chardon (38 minutes), according to a new database causing some hospital officials nationwide to cringe. In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, here's a list of local breast cancer support groups.

One in 8 American women and 1 in 1,000 American men will develop breast cancer at some point in their lives. It’s estimated that more than 2 million people are diagnosed with breast cancer and fight for their lives each year. Breast cancer is difficult to face alone—for both patients and their loved ones. To help in the battle, there are a number of local resources and support groups. Tracie Martin, department decretary for Health Education & Nursing Research at Robinson Memorial Hospital, said the hospital hosts a monthly support group for people living with cancer. "The 'Sharing Journeys' Cancer Support Group meets monthly at Robinson Memorial Hospital," Martin said in an email. "Meetings are open to those living with cancer (any type of…
