Franklin Township resident allegedly raped two 14-year-old girls

The Portage County Sheriff's Office arrested a Kent State University student on charges of raping two 14-year-old girls. Portage County Sheriff David Doak announced Friday the arrest of Benjamin R. Schwartz, 19, of 1936 Kimberly Drive, Franklin Township. Schwartz was charged with rape, a first-degree felony, and importuning, a fifth degree felony. Schwartz was arrested Wednesday. According to the sheriff's office, detectives started an investigation after a complaint came Feb. 17 that Schwartz had chaperoned a juvenile slumber party earlier that morning at his address when he allegedly separated one of the victims from the other juveniles at the slumber party and engaged in sexual activity. Man Wanted for Sexual Assault of Children: Fugitive of the Week

Roy Young Jr. is wanted for rape, sexual assault, and gross sexual imposition.

The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is looking for information on Roy Young Jr., the task force’s fugitive of the week. Young is wanted by the U.S. Marshals and the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office for rape, sexual assault, and gross sexual imposition. He's been accused of continually raping and sexually assaulting a young child for the last 10 years. Young, 42, is about 5’11” and 215 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He is believed to be hiding somewhere in Lorain County. He also has a previous address near the 4700 block of Butler Rd. in Wakeman. Stow Man Charged with Raping Ravenna Girlfriend's 15-Month-Old Baby

Logan Andrew West, 18, of Stow was arrested Monday and charged with raping a child under the age of 10, Portage County Sheriff's Office officials said. Portage County Sheriff David W. Doak said deputies responded to the 5600 block of South Prospect Street in Ravenna Township to assist Ravenna Township emergency medical workers on Saturday.  Ravenna Township EMS was responding to a call regarding an injury to a 15-month-old girl.  Due to the severity of the child's injuries, the infant was taken first to Robinson Memorial Hospital and then transferred to Akron Children’s Hospital, officers said. Robert A. Ashworth arrested over holiday weekend

A Kent man is in jail on a $250,000 bond after being charged with drugging and raping a 13-year-old child. Kent Police arrested Robert A. Ashworth, 33, of 121 W. Hall St. at his home Monday afternoon on a felony rape charge. Ashworth was charged with raping a 13-year-old sometime the day prior on Sunday. The charge is a first-degree felony. He was charged with substantially impairing the victim's judgment "by administering any drug, intoxicant or controlled substance to the victim surreptitiously or by force, threat of force or deception," according to the Kent Police criminal complaint. A Kent man is in jail on a $1.5 million bond after pleading not guilty to 32 counts of rape and gross sexual imposition. Ryant D. Cox, 28, of 322 Dodge St., was indicted by a Portage County grand jury on 16 counts each of rape, a first-degree felony, and gross sexual imposition, a third-degree felony, involving four male victims. Cox pleaded not guilty Wednesday before Portage County Common Pleas Judge Laurie Pittman. The judge ordered him held on a $1.5 million bond or surety bond on the condition he have no contact with the victims. Homeless Man Indicted in Rape of Young Boy

Adam Mattice charged with one felony count of rape

A homeless Kent man has been indicted on one count of rape of a juvenile and could be charged on several more counts. A Portage County grand jury indicted Adam M. Mattice, 25, with a last known address of 115 W. School St., Thursday on one count of rape, a first-degree felony, and one count of gross sexual imposition, a third-degree felony. Evidence presented to a grand jury by the Portage County Prosecutor's Office indicates Mattice engaged in sexual conduct with a male juvenile who was between 10 and 12 years old at the time of the act, according to court records. Water St., apartment 10, was indicted on charges of rape, aggravated burglary and two counts of sexual imposition Thursday. Water St., apartment 10, was arrested Saturday morning just after 8 a.m. at a house on South Lincoln Street. Levy was charged with rape, a first-degree felony, and sexual imposition, a first-degree misdemeanor.
