New Houses Proposed at Lakes at Franklin Mills

Original developer of subdivision proposes 9 new lots near Fairchild Avenue

The original developer of the Lakes at Franklin Mills neighborhood is looking to add nine lots for new single-family construction in what now is greenspace for the subdivision. Bob Heimann, the developer for the project, pitched plans to the Kent Planning Commission Tuesday night that showed nine new houses to be built with seven fronting Stonewater Drive and two with driveways on Roy Marsh Drive. The new houses all would be built on the edge of greenspace that includes a pond at the southwest corner of the intersection of Fairchild Avenue and Stonewater Drive. This lake is one of five lakes through out the development, hence the name "The Lakes At Franklin Mills". I hope he makes the lots as valuable as possible. I would like to see my property value increase in Kent!   more ›

City Marketing New Home Built with Fed Money

First house on Fairchild is one of three to be constructed new

In 2009, Kent’s grants and neighborhood programs administrator applied for the city to receive grants under the national Neighborhood Stabilization Program. Bridget Susel was successful, and Kent has since received $350,000 of funding. With the money, the city can afford to demolish nine abandoned or dilapidated structures to make way for three newly constructed homes. The first new home, which will be located at 527 Fairchild Ave., will be 1,300 square feet with three bedrooms, two-and-a-half baths, a finished basement and an attached two-car garage. “We are looking to break ground here within the next three weeks,” said Nancy Niland, director of property management for Family & Community Services, which has partnered with the city on …
