Lefton Tells Kent Council 'Thank You'

Kent State president hands out T-shirts to thank council for support of baseball team's winning season

In a brief visit, Kent State University President Lester Lefton handed out T-shirts to members of Kent City Council last night to commemorate the university baseball team's 2012 winning season. During the stop at council, an unusual appearance for Lefton, he also thanked members of council for their work in partnering to help redevelop a portion of downtown Kent. "My message today is simple," Lefton said. "Thank you. Thank you. Thank you." This year, Kent State's baseball team made the school's first-ever appearance in the College World Series. The team's run ended when they lost 4-1 to the two-time champion South Carolina Gamecocks, but the winning season kept the national spotlight on the city and university for several weeks.
