Clyde Encourages College Students to Apply for Statehouse Fellowships

Ohio Legislative Service Commission seeks fellows for 2014

State Rep. Kathleen Clyde (D-Kent) is encouraging college students to apply for the Ohio Legislative Service Commission (LSC) 13-month Legislative Fellowship Program. Clyde to Hold Turnpike Open House at Kent Library

State Rep. Kathleen Clyde will talk about the state's transportation budget

State Rep. Kathleen Clyde will host a town hall discussion at the Kent Free Library tonight at 7:30 p.m. to talk about the state transportation budget. Rep. Clyde will give an update about Ohio’s budget process, focusing on the transportation budget, which is the first section of the state budget to be passed through the Ohio legislature — a vote that happens usually in March. The transportation budget addresses the proposal to bond Ohio’s Turnpike, funding for critically needed transportation and infrastructure projects, as well as policy changes relating to transportation and public safety issues. State Awards Third Frontier Grant to Kent State

University to get $137,000 for liquid crystal technology research

Glasses-free 3D TV, braille devices and liquid crystal windows are three research topics at Kent State University that will benefit from an Ohio Third Frontier grant award. State Rep. Kathleen Clyde announced Monday that state technology research program will award $137,571 to Kent State for three research projects that include those areas of technology development. The grant award will pay for three research projects under way at Kent State’s Liquid Crystal Institute. The three projects, and their dollar awards, are: $38,590 to develop a cost-effective and improved method for glasses-free 3D television viewing; $50,000 to develop flexible piezoelectric fiber mats, which have potential applications in low-power displays, braille typing …

State Rep. Kathleen Clyde (D-Kent) has been appointed as the ranking member of the Ohio House of Representatives committee on State and Local Government. She was also named to the powerful Finance and Appropriations Committee, the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee and the Policy and Legislative Oversight Committee. Kent State gets $180,000 for Ohio Manufacturing Extension

Rep. Clyde's 'Listening Tour' Stops in Kent Monday

Kathleen Clyde will hold a town-hall style meeting at Kent City Council chambers at 7pm

State Rep. Kathleen Clyde's Listening Tour across Portage County comes to Kent Monday night at Kent City Council chambers. Clyde launched the countywide, 25-stop tour in July to "better understand the issues that are most important to the people she represents while visiting with them directly in their home communities," according to a press release from her office. So far, Clyde has stopped in Ravenna, Streetsboro, Randolph, Edinburg and Atwater townships. Monday's stop in Kent is at 7 p.m. at council chambers, which are located at 325 S. DePeyster St. She will be in Kent again on Wednesday at Franklin Township Hall on Gougler Avenue, again at 7 p.m., to speak to township residents. Clyde is finishing her first term as state …
