Autopsy Pending in Death of Kent Man

Richard Rezek was found dead in a storage unit downtown

The results of an autopsy are pending in the death of a Kent man found inside a storage unit in downtown Kent. Kent Police Lt. James Prusha said police were called after the owner of a storage unit at 300 N. Water St. reported finding a man dead inside the unit he was renting. Richard Rezek, 66, of Kent, was found Dec. 28 by the owner of the unit, John Kuhar, who also is a Kent City Council member. Prusha said no foul play is suspected and there were no signs of a struggle or injuries to Rezek. "Unless the coroner comes up with something we’re considering this closed," Prusha said. Neighbors say Chizek was a 'Friendly Guy'

WNIR talk show host Howie Chizek, a Twinsburg resident, died of a heart attack over the weekend.

Richard and Lisa Wamsley lived right across the street from Akron radio personality Howie Chizek. While neither of them knew Chizek well, they thought the world of the Parmalee Drive resident because of his radio show. “He seemed like an awfully nice guy,” Richard said. Chizek, 65, died of a heart attack on Saturday, June 18, while taking underpriveleged children on a trip to Disney World. Chizek was a long-time talk show host for WNIR and was often called the "voice of common sense." While Richard Wamsley only listened to Chizek on the radio periodically, he enjoyed his personality. “He was nice to people,” Richard said. “He would let them say what they wanted as long as they were decent. When I lived in the Akron area, Howie made my time in the car enjoyable. His "Over the back yard fence" conversations were very special. I tuned in via the internet after moving to Georgia just to get the grass roots version of events. He will be missed and remembered.   more ›
