Tree City Coffee & Pastry Opens Bright and Early Monday

Mike Beder, Evan Bailey and Brian Bower co-own new business in Acorn Alley II.

The owners of Kent’s newest Acorn Alley II business – Tree City Coffee & Pastry – are excited to see city residents gathering alongside Kent State University residents in an environment designed to make everyone feel like part of one community. Co-owners Mike Beder, Evan Bailey and Brian Bower are excited to finally open the doors at 5:30 a.m. Monday to start serving up their eight different coffees, made-fresh-daily muffins and pastries and a unique selection of sandwiches made on fresh-baked breads. Tree City Coffee collaborated with Bent Tree Coffee Roasters in Kent to create the Two Trees blend. Snapshot: Renowned Rocker Stops in Kent

Chrissie Hynde stopped at a local coffee shop this week

Akron-born rock star Chrissie Hynde stopped in at Bent Tree Coffee in Kent this week to try the shop's popular roasted coffee. Hynde is best known for her role in establishing The Pretenders. She opened the VegiTerranean restaurant in Akron in 2007 until it closed in 2011.

VIDEO: Bent Tree Coffee Roasters Hold Grand Opening

Coffee roasters sell by the pound and cup daily in downtown Kent

Kent's newest artisan coffee shop held its grand opening Thursday on North Water Street. Bent Tree Coffee Roasters invited friends, family, Kent Mayor Jerry Fiala and members of the Kent Area Chamber of Commerce to sample their in-house roasted coffee beans and popular iced coffee Thursday afternoon. The business is owned by longtime friends Ryan Brannon and Mike Mistur, both Kent residents, who have been avid coffee-roasting hobbyists for several years.

Stopped by Thurs. to try some fresh roasted coffee. Bought a pound of the Burundi and when I arrived home, I could not wait until Fri. morning to try a cup! So I brewed a cup immediately. The coffee was/is outstanding! Very excited about having such a resource here in town to enjoy one of my favorite things, A good cup of java! Good luck guys ,i think you will do well!   more ›

Bent Tree Coffee Roasters Opens on North Water Street

Grand opening ceremony takes place Aug. 11 at 2 p.m.

Bent Tree Coffee Roasters is now open at 313 N. Water St. Customers can sample fresh cups of coffee, buy beans by the pound or wholesale, and they also make home deliveries. Owners Ryan Brannon and Mike Mistur, both Kent residents, have been avid coffee-roasting hobbyists for several years. They’ve enjoyed sampling beans from different regions and perfecting the roasting process at their homes. Now they’ve gone pro. The duo is offering area coffee enthusiasts something currently not available in the region: high-quality, fair-trade organic beans freshly roasted on site daily.
