Man Gets Stuck Turfing Hospital's Lawn, Leaves Truck

The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department.

A Stow-Kent Animal Hospital employee called Stow Police Nov. 4 because he said there was a car sitting on the grass of his business at 4559 Kent Rd. Police said a man drove a Ford F-350 onto the lawn, turfed the grass and then when the truck got stuck, the driver just left it there. Police called Joe’s Auto to tow the vehicle. The owner of the car, a 45-year-old Munroe Falls man, went to the Stow Police Department to find his truck later. The man was cited for criminal damaging, a second-degree misdemeanor, criminal trespassing, a minor-misdemeanor and reckless opperaton on private property, a misdemeanor offense in this situation. He was issued a summons to appear at the Stow Municipal Court.

3 Stop Signs, 2 Loads of Laundry Stolen: Police Blotter

All information is according to Kent Police. Arrest information does not indicate conviction.

Three of the city's stop signs were reported stolen Sept. 9. The signs were taken from the intersection of East College Avenue and South Willow Street. Each sign was valued at $100. Laundry nabbed A resident in the 800 block of Silver Meadows Boulevard reported two loads of laundry were stolen Sept. 8. One load of laundry contained five Pepsi work uniforms. The second load contained bath towels and underwear. The laundry was valued at $300. Business vandalized A restaurant on Kent's north side reported a window was broken Sept. 9. Police estimated the damage to Digger's, at 802 N. Mantua St., to be $100.

Kent Men Charged in Acorn Alley Vandalism

Between $500 and $1,000 damage caused at downtown retail development

Kent Police have charged two men who vandalized Acorn Alley recently. Kyle J. White, 20, and Ian T. Simpson, 19, both of Kent, were charged Monday. White was charged with criminal damaging and criminal trespass and Simpson was charged with criminal trespass. The men reportedly caused between $500 and $1,000 in damage during the Labor Day holiday weekend when they pulled down a string of globe LED lights and smashed the bulbs. A Kent police officer identified one of the men from video camera surveillance tapes of the property at 165 E. Main St. The two men also reportedly broke into Acorn Corner, also known as the old Kent hotel, next door and caused damage to a door way. Police Catch Acorn Alley Vandals

Charges expected Monday in downtown vandalism

Kent Police have caught two of the three men involved in vandalizing the popular Acorn Alley downtown shopping center. Kent Police Lt. Bob Treharn said officers were able to identify the two men from video camera surveillance tapes of the property at 165 E. Main St. "We're trying to identify the third person," Treharn said. The men reportedly caused between $500 and $1,000 in damage during the Labor Day holiday weekend when they pulled down a string of globe LED lights and smashed the bulbs. Treharn said formal charges have not been filed yet, so he could not release the names of the two men who were arrested. Charges are expected to be filed Monday morning. Vandals Target Acorn Alley, Corner Developments

More than $700 in damage reported to police

Vandals caused more than $700 in damage over the Labor Day holiday weekend at one of downtown Kent's newest redevelopment projects. Phoenix Properties reported to Kent Police on Sept. 3 that someone had broken the bulbs on a string of black LED rope lights that decorate the popular Acorn Alley redevelopment off East Main Street. The damage to the broken globes was estimated at $667. Just a few hundred feet east Genghis Properties, LLC, reported a door had been broken off its hinges at 180 E. Main St., otherwise known as Acorn Corner or the old Kent hotel. The damage to the Acorn Corner building, which is undergoing a several million dolllar renovation, was estimated at $50. Blotter: Kent Man Charged with Skipping on Bar Tab

Booze Theft A Kent man has been accused of skipping out on a rather large bar tab at one of downtown Kent's taverns. Kent Police arrested Jordan Alexander, 21, of 421 N. Water St. earlier this month on charges he ran up a $75 bar tab at Water Street Tavern and did not pay it. Alexander was arrested at the bar just before 11 p.m. Aug. 5 and pleaded not guilty to the theft charge, a first-degree misdemeanor, in Portage County Municipal Court on Aug. 6. Alexander told police he works in a phone call center at Kent State University. Random Vandalism Three businesses spread throughout Kent were hit by vandals this month. Vandals Cut Down Trees at Plum Creek Park

Three trees have been cut down so far this year at the park

Kent police are stepping up their patrols of Plum Creek Park after vandals cut down three trees there. "We've got someone who's on a little destructive path," Kent Parks and Recreation Director John Idone said. "It's a frustrating thing." Idone said he's talked with the police department, which agreed to step up patrols at the park to try and catch the vandals. The latest victim, a 15-inch to 16-inch Locust tree, was found cut down with a saw or chainsaw across the park access road Friday. Previously, a Maple tree was cut down with an axe, and they cut down a smaller tree before that, Idone said. "These are fairly big trees," he said. "We're not talking saplings."
