The United Way of Portage County's goal was $1,040,000.
The United Way of Portage County is still accepting donations to meet its campaign goal of $1,040,000. The 2011 campaign has raised $520,000. "Our campaign is progressing well to date," said President and CEO Steve Kleiber. "However we still need the community’s help to achieve goal." United Way funds 43 programs, including United Way’s 211 Portage, which is in financial crisis because of local and state government budget cuts. "Many organizations that we fund are struggling and I can’t over emphasize importance of making goal this year," said Kleiber. "With the campaign winding down the United Way and all the local agencies need your support more than ever." To donate, call Liz Ziots at 330-297-1424 ext. 113, or e-mail her at lizz@…

United Way of Portage County set its 2011 campaign goal at $1,040,000 for the community campaign. In 2010 the United Way raised $1,010,000 – an increase over 2009, but short for its 2010 goal. “This year’s campaign will determine our ability to rebound from past losses and will be crucial for the programs we fund," said Steve Kleiber, president and CEO of United Way of Portage County. “The 2011 effort has started off on a successful note with our annual AMETEK/Tree City 5k run in Kent, and the early campaigns are off to a good start.” Forty-three programs are funded by United Way of Portage County, including United Way’s 211 Portage. Events will take place over the next month to kick off the campaign, including the annual Day of Caring …
