Aaron Thompkins is Kent's 'Biggest Loser'

This story is the first in a series about Kent resident and Kent State University student Aaron Thompkins. He lost 172 pounds on NBC's "The Biggest Loser" this season.

Not too long ago, Aaron Thompkins weighed 477 pounds. He was too embarrassed to go to the gym. Now, he weighs less than 300 pounds, can dead lift 425 pounds – the most weight that can fit on the bar — and is practically a fitness expert. How did he get here? This summer, the 29- year-old Kent State University graphic design student fought the battle of his life as a contestant on NBC's "The Biggest Loser." The show, in its 10th season, has contestants vie to lose the most weight for a chance at winning $250,000 and earning the title of The Biggest Loser.
