Homeowners will still have access to their driveways
Dominion East Ohio Gas will be performing a gas line replacement today on a portion of South Depeyster Street. The road will be closed between Hall Street and Oak Street. Homeowners in this stretch will have access in and out of their driveways. The work will begin at 8 a.m. Dominion expects to be finished by noon. Road closed signs will be posted.
Thursday closure between Haymaker Parkway, Summit Street
South DePeyster Street will close today for paving. The road closure will be between Haymaker Parkway and Summit Street. Haymaker Parkway also will be reduced to two lanes at the intersection with South DePeyster Street. Local traffic on South Depeyster Street will be maintained as well as emergency vehicle traffic. City officials suggest local traffic enter and exit South Depeyster Street from Summit Street.
Night-time closures for water main construction
South DePeyster Street will close starting Sunday between Summit Street and Haymaker Parkway for water main construction. Also, Haymaker Parkway will be reduced to two lanes at South DePeyster Street. The closure and lane restrictions will start at 4 p.m. Sunday, and both roads will reopen by 6 a.m. the following day. Nightly closures and restrictions will continue Monday, April 23, at 8 p.m. with the roads reopening by 6 a.m. the next day. Construction is expected to finish by April 28. Local traffic will be maintained, but city officials recommend local traffic enter and exit South DePeyster from Summit Street. The detour for through traffic will be Summit Street to South Water Street and then Haymaker Parkway.
Southbound lanes will close for pharmacy expansion work
The two southbound lanes of South Water Street will close starting this morning for underground utility work associated with the CVS expansion. The southbound lanes will be closed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. Traffic will be maintained using the turning lane. Last week, workers finished demolishing two houses south of the existing store to make way for the new building, which will include a drive-thru pharmacy. The city announced the lane closure on the same day it announced the closing of South DePeyster Street from Erie Street to Haymaker Parkway for construction of the Kent State University Hotel and Conference Center.
