Mitt Romney To Visit Avon Lake High School Monday Morning
Tickets are free by email or by visiting the Romney campaign headquarters in Avon Lake.
It's Monday in Ohio, so another presidential candidate is visiting. This time, it's Mitt Romney at the Avon Lake High School. Doors open at 9:15 a.m. and the event begins at 11:15 a.m. Since we've seen a number of these visits, we know that folks line up relly early. Tickets are free and you can get them by visiting the Ohio Romney campaign website or claiming them at the Avon Lake Romney campaign office at 375-J Lear Road, Avon Lake. Lately it seems like there's only Ohio voters in this presidential election. And the candidates are doing everything possible to talk to us. They visit, they send us letters and they call. Boy do they call. In our house, the phone rings from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sometimes it rings several times in an hour. The caller ID shows local numbers, numbers from other parts of the country and my personal favorite 1. That's right just the number 1. And you can't block the number 1. I tried. The evening was cold and rainy and the local high school football team was playing its neighboring rival. But the Republican presidential ticket of Romney and Ryan drew a huge crowd to Hoover High School Friday night. Gov. Mitt Romney campaigned in Iowa and Ohio Friday as national polls showed a tightening presidential race. A CNN poll on Friday showed Obama leading by 4 percentage points in Ohio. Candidates in the presidential election are making last-minute stops to Cleveland this week. Vice-presidential candidate Paul Ryan is visiting Wednesday, while President Barack Obama is slated to make an appearance on Thursday. Tickets are still available for both events. Paul Ryan is making an appearance in the Waetjen Auditorium at Cleveland State University at noon Wednesday. The event is free and open to the public. Tickets are available online. Plain Dealer, Beacon Journal Endorse Barack Obama for President. Do you? POLL
Both newspapers endorsed the president over his Republican challenger, Mitt Romney, but with less enthusiasm than they did four years ago. We want to hear what you think.
In this, the so-called swing state of Ohio, two of today's three Ohio major newspaper endorsements went to President Barack Obama. In the Plain Dealer's endorsement, the editorial board said Ohio benefitted from Obama's decision to help the auto industry and that he pulled the nation back from "the brink of" depression. But they weren't as enthusiastic as they were four years ago. The Beacon Journal in Akron also endorsed Obama today.
