Popped! adding space to handle internet, corporate orders
Gwen Rosenberg has grand plans for her little popcorn shop, Popped!, in downtown Kent's Acorn Alley. For starters, it's not going to be so little anymore. Rosenberg is planning to expand into space on the third floor of Acorn Alley II, directly above her existing shop, to handle the abundance of internet and corporate orders that have come through both her physical and digital doorways. "Downstairs, the space is limited," Rosenberg said. "I didn't think it was limited when I opened it." The specialty popcorn store opened in the summer of 2011, and since then the Kent mom has enjoyed a brisk business for her offerings of kettle, caramel and more creative varieties of popcorn. Acorn Alley popcorn shop open for business
Owner Gwen Rosenberg cut the ribbon on Popped!, her specialty popcorn store in Acorn Alley II, with family, friends and business partners this week. Owner/Kent Patch blogger Gwen Rosenberg had a busy 'soft opening' first day Tuesday.
Kent Patch readers have been following Gwen Rosenberg's entrepreneurial adventures since her first blog post Sept. 27 announcing her intention to open Popped! at Acorn Alley II. On Tuesday, her popcorn dreams became reality. Rosenberg whipped up batches of caramel, caramel with peanuts, firehouse caramel, white cheddar, kettle corn and "real butter popcorn" for opening day at Popped! on Tuesday. (The firehouse caramel, featuring a touch of cayenne pepper, is named in honor of Kent Fire Department members who test-tasted it for Rosenberg last May.) It was an unadvertised "soft opening" for Popped!, as Rosenberg wanted a few slow days to "iron out all the little details" involved in running a business. She didn't even post it on her Popped! …
