A resident in the 400 block of Gougler Avenue reported a break-in to Kent Police on Nov. 6. Several items were reported stolen, including $767 in cash, $880 in money orders and a "Rambo-style" survival knife valued at $125. An Apple Macbook and charger, valued at $1,000, was reported stolen from a residence in the 400 block of Miller Avenue on Nov. 4. More than $2,500 in jewelry and electronics were reported stolen to Kent Police from a residence in the 400 block of Dansel Street on Nov. 2. The preceding reported break-ins happened within days of two other break-ins reported at Silver Meadows Apartments.

For the second time this month, a Kent car dealer has been the victim of criminals. Don Joseph Toyota reported to Kent Police Aug. 18 that several windows were broken and a TV was stolen from the West Main Street car dealership. The dealership reported a 55-inch LG flat panel TV was stolen and three window panes were broken. All total, the dealership sustained $1,200 in theft and damage. Earlier this month, vandals damaged several cars at the dealership. Employees there reported on Aug. 3 more than $500 damage had been done to cars on the lot. Anyone with information about either incident can call Kent Police at 330-673-7732.

Graffiti at Walls Elementary Vandals struck Walls Elementary in Kent's Crain Avenue neighborhood recently by marking the school building and playground pieces with spray paint. School officials found red spray paint on the north side of the building, on the back board of a basketball hoop and a portable toilet and reported the graffiti to Kent Police July 11. The spray paint caused an estimated $170 in damage. Electronics nabbed Gadgets both large and small remain a popular target for thieves in Kent. Two television sets were reported stolen from a residence in the 1000 block of Graham Ave. July 24. A 42-inch Dynex TV and a 47-inch LG TV were reported stolen. Assault charge A Kent State University student charged with assault by Kent Police has pleaded not guilty to the charge. Brandon M. McPhail, 23, of 1668 Sassafras Court, Kent, pleaded not guilty May 2 in Kent Municipal Court to a charge of assault, a first-degree misdemeanor. Kent Police charge McPhail assaulted Michael Szabo Jr. on April 13, according to Portage County court records. McPhail has a pre-trial date of June 7. Robbery arrest Kent Police arrested a Kent man on a burglary charge May 3 who has since been indicted by a Portage County grand jury. Joseph M. All information was provided by police reports from departments in Patch communities. Questioned in the Nude: Twinsburg Police didn't learn much about a stolen-money accusation on May 3, but they were exposed to a naked man. The unexpected showing occurred during officers' second trip to the Warren Parkway residence that day. Police came earlier because a woman was screaming for help outside. Garage raided More than $1,600 in tools and vehicle equipment was reported stolen from a home in the 600 block of Emich Drive March 2. The owners reported the following stolen: a 100,000 BTU torpedo heater; two acetylene torches, two Homelite 14-inch chainsaws; four ATV tires, an ATV exhaust system and an ATV winch; a Stihl 16-inch chainsaw; a black trailer and a Stihl backpack leaf blower. Christmas tree stolen Thieves nabbed a Christmas tree from a Crain Avenue home over the holiday weekend. Residents in the 500 block of Crain Avenue reported their tree stolen on Saturday, Nov. 26. The tree was about 5 feet, 6 inches tall and was decorated with white lights and teal-colored ornaments. The thieves also made off with a green Christmas wreath. Electronics hot target for thieves Electronic gadgets of all kinds remain popular targets for thieves in the Kent area. Robbery, burglary arrests Kent police arrested two men recently on robbery and burglary charges. Jacob S. Hagy, 27, of 600 First Ave., was arrested and charged with robbery, a second-degree felony, this month. Hagy, who told police he is unemployed, was arrested at a Lake Street address. He gave a permanent address of Ravenna. Mark A. Perkins, 23, was arrested and charged with burglary, a fourth-degree felony. Perkins, who told police he is homeless, was arrested near the intersection of Haymaker Parkway and Willow Street.

Cafe robbed Anthony's Cafe & Cakes was robbed of about $100 cash earlier this month. The North Water Street business reported being broken into Aug. 15 and the money, in miscellaneous bills, stolen. More than $800 in electronics were reported stolen from an address in the 1500 block of Benjamin Court Aug. 17. Park popular after drinking Kent police have arrested several "very intoxicated" people on Stow Street near the River Edge Park entrance this month. Wednesday morning, just after midnight, police arrested Lori K. Rabich, 45, of Ravenna, near the park. She was charged with disorderly conduct/intoxication at the risk she could harm herself or others. The charge is a minor misdemeanor. Hours earlier, on Tuesday afternoon, police arrested two Ravenna men in the same area and on the same charges. Officers arrested Jason R. Elswick, 38, of Ravenna, on the same disorderly conduct/intoxication charge. Police noted that Elswick was "very intoxicated." William A.
