Akron Public Schools teacher accused of posting inappropriate photo on social media site
A Kent woman's status as a teacher in the Akron City Schools is under review following allegations of her sharing a photo on her Facebook page, according to Ohio.com. The Akron Beacon Journal reported that Akron school officials are reviewing Melissa Cairns status as teacher at Buchtel High School after allegations that she posted a photo online showing students with duct tape across their mouths. 'On My Own 2 Feet' Marathon to raise money for Portage County Safer Futures, Cleveland Domestic Violence and Child Advocacy Center
Melissa Cairns wants to use her passion for running to raise money for victims of domestic abuse. Cairns is working to bring a new marathon to Kent called "On My Own 2 Feet" to raise money for the Cleveland Domestic Violence and Child Advocacy Center, Portage County Safer Futures — Portage's shelter for woman and children — and Kent Parks and Recreation. Cairns said she's run 10,000 miles in the past few years in different marathons and ultramarathons, and she has friends who are race organizers in the area who can help her set up and run the new Kent race, which is tentatively scheduled for May.
