Summit Street Lane Closure Thursday, Friday

Closure for underground utility work

One lane of Summit Street will be closed Thursday and Friday for underground utility work. The eastbound lane of Summit Street will be closed between South Water Street and Franklin Avenue between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. The recommended detour is for eastbound traffic to turn south onto Franklin Avenue, east onto Williams Street and north onto South Water Street back to Summit Street.

The southbound, curb lane of South Water Street will close Monday for construction work related to the new CVS. The lane is expected to be closed between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Traffic will be maintained using the turn lane.

One lane of Summit Street will close Friday for construction work related to the new CVS building. The eastbound lane will be closed from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for underground utility work related to the project. Lane closures will be posted and flaggers will be on site.

All Lanes of S.R. 43 Expected to Open Today For Good!

After three years of construction for Fairchild Bridge, life is finally returning to normal for motorists and area businesses.

The pesky orange barrels and huge signs that have seemed a permanent part of the S.R. 43 landscape near the Fairchild Avenue Bridge are finally going away after three long years of construction. All lanes of S.R. 43, or North Mantua Street, are expected to reopen today as the project moves into its final stages. That should be a big relief for the 23,000 motorists that drive through the intersection daily (according to 2009 traffic data from AMATS). That also means the left-turn traffic signal allowing vehicles access to the new Fairchild bridge from southbound S.R. 43 will be restored. Kent Police officers have issued hundreds of tickets to drivers making an illegal turn at the intersection. Kent City Engineer Jim Bowling said Tuesday …

Lane Restrictions on Summit Start Today

Re-striping will close lanes near Kent State campus

Starting today, drivers on Summit Street will see intermittent lane closures between Morris Road and Campus Center Drive West. The lanes will be closed sporadically for re-striping for new turn lanes, according to Kent city officials. Two-way traffic will be maintained through the use of flaggers. The work is expected to be finished by May 18.

South Water Closure Delayed; Paving Work Starts Monday

Construction on new CVS will force lane closure

A portion of South Water Street will close near Summit Street starting Monday. The two southbound lanes of South Water Street will close in the area of the CVS pharmacy, which is being demolished so a larger store can be built in its place. The paving was originally scheduled to start yesterday. The lanes are expected to be closed only for Monday, May 14, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Traffic will be maintained using the turn lane.

Starting Today, construction on the Fairchild Avenue Bridge project moves back across the Cuyahoga River to S.R. 43. Lane Closures Continue for South Water Downtown

Work expected to continue until Friday, Dec. 16

Lane restrictions and parking closures on South Water Street downtown will continue at least until Friday, Dec. 16. The city notified residents and media of the third extension for underground utility work on South Water Street between Erie Street and Haymaker Parkway this afternoon. Underground utility work for the downtown redevelopment project is creating lane restrictions and closing on-street parking on that stretch of the road from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily. All lanes and parking open after 5 p.m. and on weekends. The utility work initially was expected to wrap up before Thanksgiving.

Lane Restrictions Continue for South Water Downtown

Work expected to last up to Friday

Underground utility work that is closing lanes and parking on South Water Street will continue at least until Friday. The work, and lane closures, were initially expected to finish by Thanksgiving Day. The construction work is restricting lane usage on South Water Street from Erie Street to Haymaker Parkway and closing parking on that section of the street between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. during week days. All lanes and parking will be open after 5 p.m. daily and on weekends.
