WATCH: Best Dunks From Golden Flashes' Chris Evans

Kent State basketball put together a highlight reel of the star forward's best slam dunks for his nomination to the College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships

Kent State's Chris Evans has become well-known in the Mid American Conference for his amazing slam dunks. Recently he was nominated for College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships, according to the basketball team's Twitter page. Nominees can be posted to the event's Facebook page. The winner will compete in the championships on ESPN, April 4, from 7-9 p.m. Kent State recently posted a highlight reel of Evans' best slams for his nomination. He is the Flashes leading scorer, averaging 17 points per game.

WATCH: Kent State Baseball Named Collegiate Athlete of the Year

After a trip to the College World Series, the Golden Flashes baseball team beat out the football team for the honor at the 2012 Greater Cleveland Sports Awards.

After such an amazing season that ended in the College World Series, it is no surprise that the Kent State baseball team is still gaining recognition. The Golden Flashes won the Collegiate Athlete of the Year Award Thursday night at the 2012 Greater Cleveland Sports Awards. The baseball team beat out both the Akron Zips soccer team and Kent State's football team. Coach Scott Stricklin received the award along with four of his players, including David Lyon, Jimmy Rider, David Starn and Nick Hamilton. All four were drafted by Major League Baseball teams. The Flashes dominated the Mid American Conference last season winning both the regular season and MAC Tournament Championships. The team blew through the Gary Regionals and then won the …

Start of MAC Play is a 'New Season' for Golden Flashes

The Kent State men's basketball team enters conference play on Wednesday, hosting Toledo at 7 p.m.

As the Kent State Golden Flashes men's basketball team opens up Mid American Conference play tonight, Head Coach Rob Senderoff is pleased with his team so far. "We're growing each game," Senderoff said Tuesday. "We have had good moments and some tough losses but right now our guys are in a good frame of mind." Kent State (9-5) opens up its conference schedule against the Toledo Rockets (4-7) at the MACC at 7 p.m. Wednesday night. "It's a new season starting (today) and everyone in the league is excited," Senderoff said. Kent State takes a four-game winning streak into Wednesday's game, with their last victory over Cleveland State, 72-55, on Jan. 2. Dri Archer Earns ESPN Honor

The Kent State kick returner was named to ESPN.com's 2012 All-America team.

Dri Archer continues to get national recognition. One of Kent State football's top players was recently named to the ESPN.com 2012 All-America team as an all-purpose player. "Arguably no FBS player reflects his team's nickname better than Archer, who with the ball in his hands, usually is gone in a flash for the Golden Flashes," writes ESPN's Adam Rittenburg. Last week Archer was named to the Walter Camp All-America First Team as a kick returner, the first player to earn the honor in school history. He was also named MAC Special Teams Player of the Year. In his junior season Archer had 15 kick returns this season for 573 yards and three touchdowns including a 98-yard return against Towson, a 99-yard return against Ball State and another 98…

Dream Season for Golden Flashes to Culminate at GoDaddy.com Bowl

After losing to Northern Illinois in the MAC Championship, Kent State will play in the GoDaddy.com Bowl on Jan. 6 in Mobile, Alabama.

It was a bitter-sweet ending to a dream season for the Kent State Golden Flashes football team this weekend. With a chance at the BCS Orange Bowl, the Flashes lost a gut-wrenching, double-overtime battle to Northern Illinois (12-1, 8-0) on Friday night 44-37 in the MAC Championship game. After the dust settled and the bowl games were selected, Northern Illinois will face Florida State in the Orange Bowl. But Kent State will have its first bowl game in 40 years as they star in the GoDaddy.com Bowl facing the Arkansas State Red Wolves. Arkansas State (9-3, 7-1) was the Sun Belt Conference champion this season.
