Kent Community TimeBank Stocks Up on Members
Members offer each other a wide variety of services
Imagine a community where you can get a massage, have your refrigerator cleaned or consult with a physician without forking over cold, hard cash. Instead, you’d pay with “virtual dollars” earned doing something you enjoy, like baking a pie or planting a shrub. Imagine no more, because such a “community” is thriving in Kent – and everyone is invited to join. The Kent Community TimeBank, founded last March, just broke the 100-member mark over the weekend. Timebanking is not volunteering, which offers no tangible reward. Nor is it bartering, in which goods or services are generally traded one-for-one. Great article. Would love to see one of these on the west side. An interesting aside: Abby is an awesome ice hockey player. I play with her and she is just one of those leadership types. It's not surprising to see this program flourishing.   more ›
