Kent Men Charged in Acorn Alley Vandalism
Between $500 and $1,000 damage caused at downtown retail development
Kent Police have charged two men who vandalized Acorn Alley recently. Kyle J. White, 20, and Ian T. Simpson, 19, both of Kent, were charged Monday. White was charged with criminal damaging and criminal trespass and Simpson was charged with criminal trespass. The men reportedly caused between $500 and $1,000 in damage during the Labor Day holiday weekend when they pulled down a string of globe LED lights and smashed the bulbs. A Kent police officer identified one of the men from video camera surveillance tapes of the property at 165 E. Main St. The two men also reportedly broke into Acorn Corner, also known as the old Kent hotel, next door and caused damage to a door way.
