Local Band Shares Unexpected Version of the 'Harlem Shake'

"The Singular is a band that holds high the value of music as an experience and strives to make a good one for anyone who cares to listen." And now, the brand presents its version of the viral YouTube sensation.

You've seen a lot of variations of the "Harlem Shake" over the last few weeks — but nothing like what this local band has done. Watch the YouTube video The Singular's general manager Eric Miller posted on the Kent Patch Facebook page. Franklin School Does Harlem Shake

Internet meme takes over grade school office

It was only a matter of time. The latest online video dancing phenomenon, the Harlem Shake, swarmed the offices of Kent's Franklin Elementary School recently. Costumed characters young and old joined the sensation and dance about to the 2012 song of the same title, named after a dance move that originated in Harlem in the 1980s. Forbes reported that the song topped the Billboard charts thanks largely to its popularity in YouTube videos such as the one above at Franklin.
