Council approves license agreement for building foundation
Kent City Council signed off on a license agreement this week that will allow Fairmount Properties mixed-used 'Building C' to occupy a portion of the public right-of-way on South DePeyster Street. The foundations of the $4.5 million building will encroach an estimated 2 inches, and the footers will encroach as much as 10 inches into the right-of-way, according to a memo from the city manager's office to council. Kent City Manager Dave Ruller said the encroachments will all be below ground. "We have approved similar encroachments for the other buildings in the redevelopment project," he said. City, development partner break ground on $6.5 million apartment building downtown
The ceremonial groundbreaking on downtown Kent's newest, and last, building to rise as part of the more than $100 million redevelopment boon marked one milestone while hinting at another. Fairmount Properties' "Building C" under construction in redevelopment block
As backhoes and dump trucks moved behind them the development partners behind downtown Kent's redevelopment ceremonially broke ground on yet another new, multi-million building today. Fairmount Properties' "Building C" will stand at the corner of South DePeyster and Erie streets within the redevelopment block. The five-story building will bring with it the more than 7,000 square feet Bricco white tablecloth restaurant on the first floor and 32 upscale apartments on the upper floors. The new building is the third to rise within the city's redevelopment block and is the seventh within the redevelopment area. City, developer to break ground on 'Building C' to house 32 apartments and new restaurant Bricco
City officials will break ground Friday on the last, new building to be built downtown as part of the more than $100 million redevelopment well under way. Building C, to stand at the southwest corner of the intersection of South DePeyster and Erie streets, will be home to 32 upscale apartments on the upper four floors with the 7,000-square-foot Bricco restaurant on the first floor. The new building is being built via a partnership between the city and Cleveland developer Fairmount Properties, which also built the new AMETEK and Davey Tree buildings in the same downtown block. New mixed-use apartment building downtown receives zoning variances for construction
A new mixed-use apartment building planned for downtown Kent is much closer to construction following approval of several variances from the Kent Board of Zoning Appeals Monday night. The board granted three variances to developer CollegeTown Kent LLC, a subsidiary of Cleveland-based Fairmount Properties, for 'Building C,' a mixed use retail and residential building planned for the southwest corner of the South DePeyster and Erie streets intersection. Parking for new downtown apartment building will rely on PARTA's transit center
The Kent Planning Commission signed off on the site plan for Fairmount Properties' Building C, a new mixed-used apartment building downtown, but not without talking about parking. The commission unanimously approved the project, but all four members said they were concerned about the parking arrangements. Adam Branscomb, project manager for Fairmount Properties, which will own the building, said both the residential and restaurant components of the building will rely primarily on PARTA's new Kent Central Gateway transit center and parking deck for tenants and restaurant customers. Developer Fairmount Properties plans to use PARTA's Kent Central Gateway for parking for residents, patrons at new "Building C."
People looking to live in downtown Kent's newest apartment building will have to park in PARTA's new Kent Central Gateway transit center. The site plan submitted to the city for Fairmount Properties' Building C, which will be built at the corner of Erie and South DePeyster streets, shows the building's tenants will most likely have to park in the new deck under construction on the opposite corner of the same intersection. A site plan for the building presented this month to the Kent Architectural Review Board shows no parking on site. The newest building proposed as part of downtown Kent's redevelopment received a certificate of appropriateness from the Kent Architectural Review Board Tuesday. The board signed off on plans for Fairmount Properties' "Building C," which will stand at the northeast corner of Erie and South DePeyster streets and will include 32 apartments with the restaurant Bricco on the ground floor.
