Fire at ACS Industries Shortlived

Workers evacuate plant on Mogadore Road after small fire

A fire broke out at ACS Industries late Monday night that forced workers to evacuate the company's manufacturing plant. The Kent Fire Department responded to the fire at 2151 Mogadore Road at about 8:30 p.m. An employee at ACS told Kent Patch no one was injured in the blaze and the workers on second shift were able to quickly evacuate the factory, which produces large machine implements used in the construction trade. He said the fire was contained to a small painting area of the building. Firefighters had the blaze under control by 9:30 p.m. Kent Police closed Mogadore Road at the S.R. 261 intersection until just before 10 p.m. Firefighters from multiple area departments, including Stow, Brimfield, Ravenna and Streetsboro, all responded. …

UPDATE: Fire Breaks Out at ACS Industries

Several fire departments have responded, but now are leaving the scene.

UPDATE 9:50 p.m. Firefighters are clearing the scene of a small blaze that broke out at ACS Industries on Mogadore Road at about 8 p.m. Monday. Firefighters from several area communities responded to the reported fire, which started in a painting area in the rear of the facility's manufacturing plant. An employee at ACS told Kent Patch no one was injured in the blaze and the workers on second shift were able to quickly evacuate the factory, which produces large machine implements used in the construction trade. He said no one was injured in the fire, which was contained to a small area of the building. Mogadore Road has reopened after being closed at the intersection of S.R. 261. City, Chamber Recognize Kent's Best in Business

Annual Tree City Awards held in the Kent State University Ballroom Balcony

Several area business were recognized for their contribution to the Kent community on Thursday night at the Tree City Awards and Annual Dinner, sponsored by the city of Kent and the Kent Area Chamber of Commerce.
