Tom S. Cooperrider State Nature Preserve
Meloy Road, Kent, OH 44240

The Tom S. Cooperrider State Nature Preserve, otherwise known as the Kent Bog, is the remains of a 12,000-year-oldMore glacial lake that formed the kettle bog upon which more than 3,000 tamarack trees have taken root.

The Kent Bog is a hive of plant and animal activity during the spring, summer and fall months. In the winter, the bog is less active but no less stunning and peaceful. It is maintained by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and a dedicated group of volunteers known as the Friends of the Kent Bog.

The preserve features a .5-mile boardwalk with benches and placards identifying habitats and plant species throughout the bog.
