Founded in 1986, Five Guys Burgers & Fries now has more than 725 locations. The restaurant settled into Kent in…More 2009 and has enjoyed a brisk business ever since. Located just across SR 59 from the 'front campus' hill, Kent's Five Guys serves up the limited menu that has been one of the main ingredients in its successful formula: namely, burgers and fries. (No surprise.)
Its burgers are big and fresh, as are the fries. The 'vegetarian burger' isn't actually a burger, but the standard bun-and-all-the-extras sans the burger patty. Kosher-style hot dogs are also featured on the menu, along with a grilled cheese sandwich, and Coca-Cola beverage products. The chain doesn't even offer coffee. But in Kent - as in most college towns, which Five Guys franchises favor - there's usually a Starbucks (or other coffee stop) nearby.
While its formally known as Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar, BW3 may be underselling itself in name alone. The…More well-rounded menu includes meal-sized salads, steaks, ribs, chicken, inspired sandwiches (wraps, Jerk chicken) and at least half-a-dozen choices especially for children 12 and under. And of course, there are wings, and plenty of things to wash 'em down with.
But before dismissing the BW3 crowd as a beer-and-wings group, consider this: The restaurant's uber-popular electronic trivia games aren't for lightweights. Even in this college town, customers come in intent on playing and having a cool one. And the menu and service is good enough to take the 'rents who come to Kent (mostly) to visit their matriculating offspring.
