PARTA has been a real blessing for Portage County. They employ some of the nicest, caring drivers that there are, and the fares are very reasonable. However, there are very few bus shelters or even just benches for passengers to relax while waiting. I do not understand why they do not upgrade the most popular stops by at least putting in benches. Places like the Community Action Council/Center of Hope and Kent Social Services/Kent Recreation Dept. bus stops immediately come to mind. In Blackhorse, the auto dealer there was kind enough to put his own bench at their stop and the Kent Roosevelt shop class built a bench and placed it at Kentway Apartments. These free charitable benches are great, but PARTA has 24 MILLION dollars to build their new transit center and I have not heard one mention of giving people what they REALLY need; they are too busy spending the money on "artwork"!
