Tucked away in the sleepy hamlet of Brady Lake Township is the Club House. It's a safe bet plenty of Kent-area residents don't know about the bar—and it's an equally safe bet that this is just fine with Club House regulars. The sprawling home turned bar/restaurant hosts customers seven days a week, from breakfast until last call.

A pool table, dartboard, big-screen TVs and jovial atmosphere make regulars return frequently; newcomers may feel a little out of place at first, but will likely find both customers and staff welcoming, especially upon a return visit.

We're in Kent for a family funeral. On Sunday Sept. 30 we stopped at the Club House to eat, on recommendation of local friends who are regulars and just finishing a meal there. Our two SERVICE DOGS were with us, properly attired in their SERVICE DOG vests. We were barely in the door when the gal behind the bar told us we'd have to take our dogs out. We would have explained to her that they were SERVICE DOGS, in case she didn't notice their vests, but she gave us an attitude and walked away down the bar, thus closing the topic as far as she was concerned. Our dogs had as much right to be there as anyone else, due to the federal ADA law. We could have pursued the matter with her, but didn't care to stay in a place where the staff was so uneducated, unwelcoming, and unfriendly. We left immediately with our friends who had finished their meal. They told us the bartender had been displaying a bitchy attitude even before we arrived. In our travels all over the country, our dogs have been accepted in more nice hotels and excellent restaurants than this gal will likely ever be in her entire lifetime. We had considered holding a get-together there of our former Kent State University High School classmates, but after this experience we chose a different location.
Who wrote the description about the customers and staff being welcoming? One of the customers had come over to see our dogs and spoke warmly, but the owners need to have a second look at their staff.
