The MetroParks Serving Summit County are partnering with Crooked River Adventures to offer a guided paddling tour of the Cuyahoga River on Friday and Saturday.

American Canoe Association-certified instructors from Crooked River Adventures will lead paddlers—in their choice of canoe or kayak—from Tannery Park on Stow Street in Kent to Brust Park in Munroe Falls.

Paddlers can learn the basics while observing wildlife and beautiful habitats. No experience is needed, and return transportation to Tannery Park is provided.

Registration is required by calling Crooked River Adventures: 330-541-7467.

For more information, call 330-865-8065 or visit summitmetroparks.org.

I thought the river was closed to paddlers because of the kramer bridge?
Matt Fredmonsky October 04, 2013 at 08:19 AM
Donald, the stretch of the river from Tannery Park just downstream of the bridge construction is closed. Boaters are encouraged to put in at Middlebury Road, which is I believe where these trips start (they just meet at Tannery Park).

Correct, Matt. We will begin be meeting at Tannery Park, then shuttle everyone downriver to the Middlebury Road ramp and put in after we complete the necessary forms and watch our safety video. However, our trips on both Friday and Saturday are completely full and unfortunately we cannot accommodate any additional participants due to equipment and transportation availability.
