More than 2,200 Kent children have participated in Safety School since it began over 30 years ago.

If your child is attending kindergarten anywhere in Kent this fall and you haven’t already registered them for Safety School, please contact Thea Sears at dsears2@neo.rr.com to request a registration form. There is a $25.00 registration fee for each child and registration forms are due by June 14, 2011. If you or your group would like to volunteer at this year’s Safety School, please contact Kim Garner at kgarner1@kent.edu.

“Safety School would not be possible without the help of our generous donors and
committed volunteers who support us year after year,” said Erica Peeps, president, Kent Junior Mothers. “We believe it is an essential program that is helping the children in our community stay safe at home, at school and at play.”

Kent Junior Mothers (KJM) is also currently seeking members for its 2011-2012 year. A nonprofit service organization of Kent mothers with children under the age of 9, KJM has deep roots in the Kent community. The club has been in existence since 1945, and is a member of the Kent United Services Organization (KUSO).

Club activities include volunteering and giving back to kids in our community through events like The Festival of Lights, the Lisa Hawthorne Memorial Service Award, and Safety School. In addition, KJM hosts fun family events for our members and their kids throughout the year. These events include monthly family
outings, Easter Family Fun Day, Milk & Cookies with Santa and more.
