Giving to Those Who Gave

My name is John Ryan. I am currently a Senior at Theodore Roosevelt High School. I am an Eagle Scout of Troop 253 in Kent. This year I have made it my personal goal to be less greedy this Christmas season. With that in mind I started doing some searching for holiday season charities, but it seemed like everything I looked at was something similar to a giving tree. This is nice, don't get me wrong, but I wanted to do something a little bit above and beyond that, and something that also helped locally. That is where the idea for Giving to Those Who Gave came to my mind. I contacted a local homeless shelter for veterans  called the Freedom House. I pitched my idea and they were very glad to here from me. Now for you all to know the goal of the project: I would like to gather donations from throughout the community, based on the list provided, of things needed at the shelter. THIS IS WHERE I NEED YOUR HELP! If you or anyone else could donate anything on the list, that would be wonderful! Monetary donations are also welcome! A date will soon be announced on what day you can give those donations. I had originally planned to meet at the Kent Free Library Parking Lot where the donations would be accepted, but that is open to change. Don't worry- the date, time, and place will be finalized soon. Once the donations are gathered, I would like to package them in a nice Christmas package of sorts and give it to the Freedom House hopefully sometime very close to Christmas. I would like to thank you so much for any donation you may plan on making. It really does mean a lot! Hope to see you where ever it is we decide to receive donations!
