Summer Camp Guide for Northeast Ohio

Enrollment is starting soon for many summer camps. Here's a selection of summer camps in northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania.

With the choice and variety of summer camps available in northeast Ohio in 2013, boredom won't be an option.

Organizations, from the YMCA to your local parks and recreation department, offer dozens of camp choices for science, reading, sports, music and more. Whether you're looking for an all-around experience or a more focused camp, this list features a few in your town and nearby.

Northeast Ohio Day Camps

Location: Kent
Name: Plum Creek Camp
Type of camp: Day camp for ages 6-12. 
Cost: $70/weekly for residents; $78/weekly for non-residents
Where:  497 Middlebury Rd. Kent, OH  
When: June 11- Aug. 17 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; camp offers care from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at a cost.)
Deadline for registration: April 2, 2013
Details: This camp is ideal for those working families who may not necessarily work all day but need a safe environment for their child. This camp offers many outdoor learning  experiences as well as field trips and swimming each week.

Location: Kent
Name: Kent Rec Day Camp
Type of camp: Day for ages 6-12
Cost: $100/weekly for residents; $108 for non-residents

Details: This camp is perfect for working families who need care for their child all day long.  The children receive breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack. Field trips, swimming, a movie, and special guest are included each week. Small groups encourage learning in  arts & crafts, recreation, reading, and outside activities

Northeast Ohio Overnight Camps

Name: Pleasant Hill Outdoor Camp

Details: This camp is through the Catholic Charities Community Services of Summit County and offers a variety of programs for campers including horseback riding, archery and a zip line.

Details: Camp Adventure is an outdoor, adventure-based camp for children grades 6-11 with a rock wall, hiking and more. The program is run by Penn State University.
