Kent Boys' Soccer Ties Western Reserve

Kent's varsity boys' soccer ties rival Western Reserve Academy 2-2

Kent Roosevelt boys' soccer defenders earned their keep — despite allowing two goals — in a battle against a strong Western Reserve Academy offense Thursday night.

But the Kent offense also scored two goals to hold the rival Hudson team to a tie outcome, with the final score 2-2.

Kent center midfielder, junior Noah Johnson (16), scored the game’s first goal early in the first half, while Western Reserve scored on a free kick with 15 seconds left in the first half.

In the second half, Western Reserve moved ahead with a second goal, taking the game to a 1-2 score, until Kent attacking midfielder, sophomore Michael Beckwith (20), headed in an assist off Johnson’s free kick. Western Reserve could not take back the lead from Kent's strong defense, despite several shots on goal.

Thursday’s tie game was Kent’s third game of the season. Kent’s record is 1-0-2, with a tie against Green High School, 1-1, and a win Tuesday night against Ravenna, 2-1. The club’s next game is at Revere High School Saturday at 3 p.m.
