He was arraigned from jail Tuesday by Poland and has a pretrial hearing set for Friday in Kent at 10:45 a.m.

Tips called in after a Sunday morning e-mail alert sent to the Kent State community, along with cooperation from local law enforcement, helped with the arrests, according to the university.

The robbery took place at 11:35 p.m. Saturday in the Harbourt Hall parking lot, which is near the Kent State Ice Arena. The victims were not injured.

The robbery occurred less than two weeks after . Students there told police items were stolen from their dorm rooms Jan. 25 after the doors were left ajar. Unlike Wright Hall, Harbourt Hall — which is near the Kent State University Ice Arena — is currently closed as the university prepares to renovate the building into administrative office space.

In announcing the arrests, the university issued a statement pointing to Kent State's standing among the safest campuses in Ohio, according to FBI Uniform Crime Statistics Report and Consortium for Higher Education Campus Crime Research.

"The safety of our students, faculty, staff and visitors is our first priority," the statement read.

The robbery remains under investigation, according to Kent State police.
