Second Small Plane Crash at Kent State Airport

No injuries in second crash this year

A plane crash shut down the in Stow for three hours at about  6:30 p.m. Saturday.

The airport was reopened at 9:30 p.m. Saturday. 

A student crashed a university-owned Cessna 152 single-engine while attempting a landing, Kent State spokesperson Emily Vincent said. The , as well as the Kent Police Department and the Ohio State Highway Patrol were on scene after the crash, but no injuries were reported.

Thehe aircraft sustained front-end damage, but a cost estimate was unavailable Monday.

The pilot was the only person aboard. The student, who is a part of the aeronautics program, was communicating with an instructor on the ground observing the solo flight when the crash happened, Vincent said.
