Kent State Fire Drill Tests Wednesday

Kent campus will run fire evacuation drills at non-residential buildings

Fire officials at will test run fire drill evacuations at all non-residential buildings on the Kent campus today.

No actual evacuations will take place, but professors and department supervisors will review evacuation procedures with students and staff.

The drills are expected to start at 11:10 a.m.

"The purpose of these drills is to familiarize students and employees with building evacuation and precautions to be taken in the event of a fire," according to the university. "The drills will be initiated by the campus emergency notification system located in each building and will advise persons to take notice of the nearest safe evacuation route, followed by a list of precautions to be taken in an actual evacuation."

The goal is to increase fire safety awareness on campus, according to Kent State.
