Kent Schools Not Hit Hard by State Budget Cuts

Ohio Office of Budget and Management released figures Thursday for Ohio's school districts

The state cuts in funding to local school districts won't hit the too hard in the next few years.

In fact, funding is increasing slightly for Kent next year.

Figures released by the Ohio Office of Budget and Management this week show state assistance to Kent is projected to increase by 1 percent, or $123,158, for fiscal year 2012.

In total, the state provided $12.3 million in funding to Kent schools for the 2011 fiscal year. That will increase to about $12.4 million for the 2012 fiscal year.

But state funding is projected to drop for the 2013 fiscal year by 1.8 percent, or $219,226, to about $12.2 million.
