Franklin Elementary School missed the big prize in Glidden Paint's Colorful Classrooms Contest.
But the sole semifinalist from Ohio will get a consolation prize: 200 gallons of free paint.
Glidden announced Monday that Jefferson Elementary in Gallup, NM, won the Colorful Classrooms Contest.
"Since all of the finalists did a fantastic job rallying the support of their communities, all of the schools are going to receive 200 gallons of quality Glidden paint to brighten up their classrooms," a Glidden spokesperson posted on the company's Facebook page.
The winner received the free paint plus paid labor to apply it and a community party courtesy Glidden.
Final vote tallies weren't available Monday, but Franklin School earned more than 10,000 votes.
Glidden received more than 320 nominations from schools in 43 states, and Franklin was one of five semifinalists.
