Cornhole Tourney to Benefit Adam Hamilton Scholarship

It's not too late to register for Saturday event hosted by Kent State Veterans Club.

There's still time to register for this Saturday's second annual scholarship fund memorial cornhole tournament in honor of , who was killed in Afghanistan last year.

The Kent State Veterans Club will host the tournament at the , tucked away at 500 VFW Parkway in Kent (follow the signs at S.R. 59). Gates open at 11 a.m. and the tournament starts at noon.

The fee to enter the tournament is $40 per team. Non-participants pay $10. Tickets cover food and drinks.

All proceeds will be donated to the Adam Hamilton Memorial Academic and Athletic Scholarship Fund, set up by his parents Scott and Nancy.

The tournament will be single-elimination rounds with two-person teams. First place winner will receive $100 and the second place winner will receive $50.

Also included at the memorial event will be a 50/50 raffle, music and a silent auction.

Hamilton, a 2007 graduate, died on May 28, 2011, after sustaining wounds from an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan.
