Concert Benefits new Donna and Jack Crews Choral Scholarship

Scholarship benefit concert March 31

The community is invited to a special evening of music on March 31, 2012. The event is A Musical Affair, a Kent Roosevelt Choral Alumni Showcase to benefit the Donna and Jack Crews Choral Scholarship.

The concert will be in the Richard Roberts Auditorium at and will begin at 8:00 p.m. Ticket prices are $25 for general admission and $35 for preferred-seating which includes a piano and dessert bar preceding the show. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.krhschoral.com or call 1-800-838-3006.

Those attending A Musical Affair will be treated to the music of many Kent Roosevelt alumni whose vocal talents were fostered by the Kent high school choral program during the tenure of Donna Crews. They are coming together from California, New York, Ohio, and Florida for this special performance. A variety of musical genres will be on display – from opera and rock to country and Broadway. A “meet and greet” with the performers will follow the concert for all in attendance.

The Donna and Jack Crews Choral Scholarship is a new scholarship being endowed by them through to provide financial support for Kent high school choral students interested in pursuing a career in music or a related field. The scholarship will contribute toward the cost of private instruction and higher education. Jack, a local businessman, and Donna, a music educator for 36 years, are long-time Kent residents who have an on-going interest in the future of our city and its students.

“As I look toward at the end of this school year, it is my desire to provide a lasting way to encourage future choral students,” Donna Crews said. “I appreciate your support of this special event to help us lay the foundation for this scholarship.”
