United Way Behind on 2011 Campaign Goal, Looking for Donations

The United Way of Portage County's goal was $1,040,000.

The United Way of Portage County is still accepting donations to The 2011 campaign has raised $520,000.

"Our campaign is progressing well to date," said President and CEO Steve Kleiber. "However we still need the community’s help to achieve goal."

United Way funds 43 programs, including United Way’s 211 Portage, which is in financial crisis because of local and state government budget cuts.

"Many organizations that we fund are struggling and I can’t over emphasize importance of making goal this year," said Kleiber. "With the campaign winding down the United Way and all the local agencies need your support more than ever."
