Public Invited to Groundbreaking for Downtown Redevelopment

City marks start of construction for downtown project Tuesday at 9 a.m.

Tuesday will mark the official start of construction for downtown Kent's public-private redevelopment between the city and Fairmount Properties.

City officials are welcoming members of the public and business community to come out for the groundbreaking event, which starts at 9 a.m. and will be held near the corner of Erie and South Water streets.

The groundbreaking starts construction for the 185,000-square-foot, mixed-use portion of downtown Kent's estimated $100 million-plus downtown redevelopment efforts.
