Kent Stats Available on Detailed New York Times Census Map

Browse local data from the Census Bureau's American Community Survey in a New York Times widget.

The New York Times recently published an interactive map with Google that breaks down U.S. Census figures for Kent by block.

Click here to view the map. Type "Kent, OH" into the search bar on the right and start exploring the various maps in each category: race and ethnicity, income, housing and families and education.

When the latest U.S. Census figures were released, we learned five key things about Kent:

  1. Kent is largely white, but becoming more diverse
  2. Blacks have lowest husband-wife household percentage
  3. Majority of households are "non-family"
  4. Larger percentage of Asians rent
  5. Whites have more single moms
