Kent State Political Science Professor's Opinions on Egypt Shared in New York Times

Stacher has also written eight other pieces in notable publications on the 2011 Egyptian Uprising.

Joshua Stacher, an assistant professor of political science at Kent State University and the author author of “Adaptable Autocrats: Regime Power in Egypt and Syriahad an opinion piece run in the New York Times July 12

The op-ed, titled "True Democrats Don't Bankroll Juntas" is about how the military’s coup in Egypt has placed the American political establishment in a bind.

"If Mr. Obama wants American rhetoric about democracy to be taken seriously in the wake of a military intervention, aid to Egypt’s army has to be on the chopping block, as our laws state," Stacher wrote for the New York Times. "Egyptians are already suspicious of American intentions — and they will be even more skeptical of America’s goals if we fail to respect our own legislative checks on foreign assistance as they try to build their own democracy."
