Kent City Council approves contract for last union; general compensation plan for non-union employees

The last of Kent's six public employee unions has a contract in place for the next three years.

approved the contract for the Ohio Patrolmen's Benevolent Association, representing police supervisors, at its meeting Wednesday.

The OPBA contract, like the city's other unions, keeps employee wages flat for 2012 with no increase in employee health care contributions. OPBA employees will get a 1 percent increase in 2013 and a 2 percent pay increase in 2014.

Also Wednesday, council approved the general compensation plan for the city's non-union employees, which includes department heads and other non-union personnel.

Non-union employees will see the same wage rates as the union employees — no increase in 2012, a 1 percent increase in 2013 and a 2 percent increase in 2014.
