Curbside Pickup of Christmas Trees Still Available

Free service runs through Friday; after that, trees can be taken to city's yard waste site.

Still have that formerly live Christmas tree hanging around the house, dropping needles like crazy? It’s not too late to get free curbside pickup service from crews.

Sheri Chestnutwood, administrative assistant in the , said employees will continue cruising city neighborhoods through Friday picking up trees stripped of their ornaments, tinsel and other festive décor.

Wondering why some trees placed curbside last week haven’t been picked up? City employees were off Jan. 2 in observance of New Year’s, making for a short workweek. Then, central maintenance workers had their shifts filled with snow-removal duties as a result of .

Chestnutwood said residents need not call as the pickup service is automatic: just place the tree curbside and it will eventually disappear. However, questions are always welcome at the service department, 330-678-8105.

Those who miss Friday’s deadline for curbside pickup can drop their tree off during regular business hours at the city’s , located at the entrance to .

No matter how the trees get to the yard waste site, they all will end up as mulch which is then available for free pickup by city residents. Nothing like spreading that holiday cheer throughout the year!
