Two dogs perished in a house fire late Monday evening at 327 Cherry St. in Kent, but no humans were injured in the $75,000 blaze.
Kent Fire Capt. Chuck Palmer said the department received a call at 10:40 p.m. Monday about a house on fire with people trapped inside. But when firefighters arrived on scene, bystanders informed them no humans were inside the two-unit rental house.
Firefighters had the blaze under control in about 30 minutes, Palmer said, and they remained on scene for about three hours. He said the fire caused “substantial damage” to 327 Cherry, but there was no exposure damage to neighboring houses.
